“You have cause for great joy in this, though it may have been necessary for you to be troubled for a little time, being tested in all sorts of ways.”

This past Saturday, July 20, I’ve reached my second anniversary in my third bout with cancer, where it has aggressively metastasized to other areas in my body through the lymphatic system. Altogether, I have been in this fight for nearly six years. And while I strive to focus on the blessings that come from having cancer, the fact that it’s still with me, coupled with the recent negative impact from the treatment, has hit me pretty hard – both mentally and emotionally. So, this morning I’m journaling to hopefully regain my mental and emotional footing, to courageously endure this relentless disease.
Despite still having cancer, I’ve been tremendously blessed by the steady prayers from my church and loved ones, the heartfelt cards and encouraging notes that I keep receiving in the mail, and by the following friends and colleagues who’ve kept me company during my chemo treatments. Thank you! Thank you! THANK YOU!

Treatment update: Unfortunately, the treatment has impacted my pancreas and liver, which led to a new diagnosis of chemo-induced diabetes. I’ve started insulin shots a week ago and have a glucose monitoring device attached to my right arm. I am still able to work, but mostly from home right now. I hope that my energy will pick up soon so that I can get back to my normal work/life engagements.
Prayer request: Continue to pray that God gives me more strength, patience, and faithfulness in this trial.
My chemo treatment schedule: At this time, I have enough volunteer helpers for my scheduled chemo sessions. However, feel free to join us as a guest. At one time or another, I have had 3 to 5 people with me during my sessions. So, more the merrier 😊 You can access my schedule here, or copy the URL and paste it into your web browser address bar: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1ZTBEqzXyc1-RiykEzHDMtJJwiO0GfjUK1br4V-u1XOQ/edit?usp=sharing.
