On Tuesday, March 4th, I was able to give a career workshop at Career Network Ministry, a job service program under City Impact Ministries, McLean Bible Church, Vienna, Va. While the experience was quite tiring, I truly loved being back teaching and serving others.
My vision for this program is to bring in men and women into the federal government who possess high standards of integrity, moral and ethical conduct, and most important, a genuine concern for the American public interest.
During the workshop, there were times that I experienced dizziness and weakness due to the cancer treatment. However, my current health did not damper my passion to live out my life mission:
"To be selfless, serviceable and committed to take care of, benefit, and be of value to one, or to a great number around me, by righteous, truthful and compassionate thoughts, words and actions."
And as a special surprise to us, when Teresa and I walked into the facility we quickly noticed "Welcome Back Alex" signs. What a wonderful feeling to know that you are deeply cared about and that so many people appreciate the service we provide. The signs were made by an 11-year-old boy named Charleston, the son of a very good friend of mine. (Thank you Will!)
